The pipe was broken under the patio where a second unknown sewer pipe was tied in from the old grease trap. After excavation and repairing this section, we found that the sewer pipe was running at an uphill angle and that it was under the garage. Well, we all know that sh*t rolls downhill, so we were forced to dig out another section to try and correct the pitch We were able to get an 1/8" uphill pitch down to flat before we ran out of room at the garage, better but not ideal. The city main sewer is so shallow that the service pipe has been close to flat since it was built. We also installed two way 4" outside cleanouts to make future cleanings more effective. With the broken section fixed and the pitch somewhat corrected, this sewer should last many more years, with yearly cleaning. Remember to clean your clay sewer at least once a year to control tree roots. Tree roots can be very powerful and actually break your pipe if left unchecked. CONTACT US |
